Guitarists Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds were the musical guests on Wednesday night’s installment of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. In addition, Dave sat for an interview with the host in which the pair discussed the failed Fyre Festival, Matthews’ nine-year-old son’s taste in music and more.

Matthews and Colbert started off making small talk about how they had really not met before though the host had attended one of the guitarist’s concerts. Stephen asked Dave his 25 years on the road and Matthews talked about how he went from fans holding up lighters at his shows to iPhones. The guitarist also revealed his nine-year-old son prefers the heavy-hitting music of Nirvana to Matthews’ more mellow tunes. Dave responded to a question about the Fyre Festival by saying he hopes the event goes down in history with Woodstock.

At the end of the show Dave was joined by his DMB band mate and current tour mate Tim Reynolds as well as a string section for “Samurai Cop.” Matthews clarified earlier in the evening the song, which he debuted with DMB last year around this time, is not about a samurai cop.
