Dave Matthews Band Welcomes Jimmy Herring & David Sanchez In Atlanta

By Scott Bernstein May 29, 2016 6:50 am PDT

Last night Atlanta’s Lakewood Amphitheatre hosted the Dave Matthews Band as part of the group’s 25th anniversary tour. DMB welcomed a pair of special guests and kept the tour debuts coming in Atlanta on Saturday night.

Widespread Panic guitarist Jimmy Herring has sat-in with a bevy of bands over the past four decades, but had never jammed with the Dave Matthews Band until last night. Herring emerged nine songs into DMB’s set to lend a hand on the tour debut of “Raven” as well as “Satellite” and “Sugar Will.” Jimmy wasn’t the evening’s only guest as tenor saxophonist David Sánchez came out later in the night for a version of “Jimi Thing” that included portions of Prince’s “Sexy MF.” Sánchez, a protege of the late Dizzy Gillespie, also made his first appearance with DMB last night. Matthews and his band ended the show with an “Ants Marching” > “Halloween” encore with the latter a tour debut.

Dave Matthews Band now brings the tour to Maryland Heights, Missouri tonight.
