The next installment of Dave Matthews Band‘s live archival series features the last Halloween show the group has played. Live Trax 39 contains an official recording of DMB’s October 31, 1998 performance at The Arena In Oakland and is due out around November 1 with downloads available on November 4.

DMB hit one of the peaks of their career in 1998 as they released the beloved Before These Crowded Streets in 1998 and toured behind it for the majority of the year. Fall ’98 is in the discussion for the group’s best tour of all-time and Halloween night has many of the hallmarks that made the tour a winner. Dave Matthews and Co. delivered a guest-filled affair complete with a pair of bust outs. Tim Reynolds sat-in for the whole night years before he was recruited as a full-time member. Greg Howard also shared the stage with DMB for the entire show as he added the sounds of a Chapman Stick to the performance.

Additionally, saxophonist Joshua Redman made his Dave Matthews Band debut. Redman added to the first “I’ll Back You Up” in 134 shows as well as “Jimi Thing.” Fans were hoping a Halloween show would mean DMB would play the song of the same name and they not disappointed. The October 31st, 1998 performance of “Halloween” was the first since the previous May, which was a span of 81 shows.
