Dave Matthews Band Opens 2018 Gorge Run & To Appear On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

On Friday night Dave Matthews Band brought their summer run to the Pacific Northwest kicking off a three-night run at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. The seminal jam act delivered a pair of surprises during their career-spanning night that also featured opening sets from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Moon Taxi.

Dave Matthews & Co. got things going in The Evergreen State with “Pig.” It was just the 21st time that the track from Before These Crowded Streets had been tapped to open a show since it was debuted back in 1998. Three songs later the band served up their first bust out of the night, as they unearthed “Spaceman” for the first time since November 11, 2015 – a span of 99 shows. From there, DMB would work their way through a cross-section of material from their catalog. Old-school fan-favorites were represented with “Sattelite,” “Seek Up” and “Minarets.” Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” continued to remain in rotation after being revived earlier this summer, while the Busted Stuff rarity “Raven” was trotted out for just the third time in 2018.

Dave Matthews Band also showcased material from their latest studio effort Come Tomorrow as they mixed in “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin),” “Again and Again,” “Can’t Stop,” “Here on Out” throughout their 18-song main set with the album’s title track coming during the encore. The evening’s second surprise came towards the end of the night as “Old Dirt Hill (Bring That Beat Back)” was dusted off. The tune from 2005’s Stand Up had last seen action at the very same venue back in September 2016.

Yesterday it was also revealed the Dave Matthews Band will appear on the September 5 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. It was announced that Matthews will sit down for an interview with the late-night host, while the band will also perform.

Dave Matthews Band returns to the stage at the Gorge tonight, which will be webcast for free.
