Dave Matthews Band‘s summer tour pulled into Dallas on Saturday night for a concert at Dos Equis Pavilion. The show featured four tour debuts including the first full-band performance of “Black And Blue Bird” since June 23, 2018.
The septet began their seventh show of the summer with “When The World Ends” off 2001’s Everyday. DMB’s first tour debut of the night came a few songs later when they looked to 2002’s Busted Stuff for “You Never Know.” Next up was “Madman’s Eyes,” the evening’s lone tune from the band’s latest studio album, Walk Around The Moon.

Dave Matthews Band went with live staple “#41” after “Madman’s Eyes” and then put the focus on their 2018 LP, Come Tomorrow, for a three-song stretch. “Can’t Stop” was followed by the tour’s first “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin).” Frontman Dave Matthews then led his bandmates through the aforementioned “Black And Blue Bird.”
While “Black And Blue Bird” hadn’t been performed by the full band in nearly six years, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds played the Come Tomorrow cut at their 2022 and 2023 destination events in Cancún, Mexico. The “Black And Blue Bird” in Dallas marked the biggest bust out of the tour yet.

The next portion of the show was devoted to classics “Warehouse” and “Lover Lay Down.” Dave Matthews Band then covered David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” ahead of Stand Up chestnut “Stolen Away On 55th & 3rd.” An extended “Lie In Our Graves” followed along with “Spaceman” before a run of fan-favorites “Grey Street,” “Everyday” and “Ants Marching” brought the main set to a close.
Dave Matthews went it alone to kick off Friday’s encore with the tour’s first “Some Devil,” the title track of his 2023 solo album. The rest of the band then returned for an “All Along The Watchtower” finale that included a brief excursion through Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven.”
The tour resumes on June 12 at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia. DMB will be on the road through their annual three-day Labor Day Weekend run at The Gorge in Washington state.
