Dave Grohl, Violet Grohl & Greg Kurstin Cover Amy Winehouse For ‘Hanukkah Sessions’

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and producer/musician Greg Kurstin invited Grohl’s daughter, Violet Grohl to lead the fifth installment of this year’s The Hanukkah Sessions series. Violet fronted a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Take The Box.”

Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin started The Hanukkah Sessions last year as a celebration of the Festival Of Lights and to honor Jewish musicians. “Take The Box” marks the pair’s first cover in the series to feature an additional performer. Violet, Dave and Greg are also joined by two backing vocalists for the track from the late Amy Winehouse’s Frank album.

“Despite this song’s mention of a ‘Moschino bra you bought me last Christmas,’ it’s common knowledge that the amazing woman behind the song was actually Jewish,” reads a note accompanying the video. “Gone far too soon…Ms. @amywinehouse and ‘Take The Box.'”
