Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country Seek ‘Horizons’ For Red Rocks Trail Mix Sessions

Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country are the latest band to clock a Red Rocks Trail Mix Session, playing songs from their upcoming album Horizons, due out on August 22. The guitarist and his band captured their performance on July 19 while at Red Rocks to open for The String Cheese Incident.

Performing in a stripped down format, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country — which includes drummer Will “Bronco” Clark, bassist Will “Mustang” McGee and multi-instrumentalist Nathan “Sugar Legg” Aronowitz — kicked off their Red Rock Trail Mix Session with a smoking “Sunshine in the Rain.”

Daniel Donato then sat down and shared his thoughts on Red Rocks and what “cosmic” means as only DD can:

“At a venue like Red Rocks, there’s a cosmicity to it. There’s a reason why so many amazing and enduring beautiful experiences are had by individuals for decades at this venue. There’s all kinds of different word symbols that people use where they’re talking about what is unqualifiable and eternally mysterious. Some people call it universe, some people say cosmos, some people say dharma…some people say god. And so what is cosmic to me is always changing and revealing itself to me more and more, moment by moment, every day that I’m trying to seek it…and serve what is most cosmic.”

The music continued with “Broadside Ballad,” the lead single from Horizons. The session came to a close with Horizons opener, “Blame the Train.”
