Hear Daniel Donato’s Jubilant ‘Hi-Country’ Single

Cosmic Country guitarist Daniel Donato unveiled “Hi-Country,” the second single off his forthcoming sophomore studio album, Reflector. The 15-track effort is set for release through Retrace Music on November 10.

Reflector marks the Nashville-based guitarist/singer-songwriter’s first full-length album consisting solely of original material. Donato previously issued his independent debut, A Young Man’s Country, in 2020.

Daniel Donato is joined on Reflector by his band, Cosmic Country, which consists of keyboardist Nathan Aronowitz, bassist Will McGee and drummer Noah Miller. The road warriors played more than 200 shows in 2022 and enlisted producer Vance Powell (Phish, White Stripes, Buddy Guy) to help capture that live sound in the studio.

“Hi-Country” arrives on the heels of Reflector lead single “Lose Your Mind.” The song has been part of Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country’s live repertoire for over a year and quickly became a fan favorite. Nashville ace pedal steel player Paul Franklin contributed to “Hi-Country” and three other Reflector cuts.

“There is a fine line between what is real and what is your imagination, but yet, both inform each other,” explained Donato in regards to his new single. “’Hi-Country,’ is a symbol of this strange ever-present duality in life. It is a place that you are en route to physically, yet spiritually, you are already there. Life is but a day’s work, and ‘you got all day to make it true…’ in the Hi-Country.”
