Beloved rock star Cyndi Lauper brought her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour to the Target Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday night. The concert was highlighted by the unexpected appearance of singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams, who dropped by to help perform Lauper’s classic “Time After Time.”
“It’s such an honor to be here tonight, I can’t tell y’all,” Williams said upon joining Lauper onstage. “This woman here needs to be included in all of those special TV things they have when they talk about Greatest Women In Rock. She needs to be in there with Joan Jett and all the other ones. She’s an amazing artist.”
“I don’t need nobody to tell me I’m who I am, I know who I am,” Lauper proudly responded.

After Williams expressed her love for Lauper, the pair of 71-year-old veteran musicians sang “Time After Time.” The song appeared on Lauper’s breakout 1983 debut album, She’s So Unusual.
Lauper fought off vocal issues throughout the Target Center show, struggling to sing during “Time After Time” and at other spots in the performance. See their memorable duet below:
