Cream Mates Say Farewell To Jack Bruce At Funeral

Bassist Jack Bruce, who died on October 25, was honored at a funeral today at Golders Green Crematorium in north London. There were many musicians in attendance including Bruce’s Cream band mates, Eric Clapton & Ginger Baker, according to Western Morning News.

Clapton & Baker were among those who bid farewell to Jack by singing The Beatles classic “Strawberry Fields Forever” at the ceremony. Roxy Music guitarist and Pink Floyd producer Phil Manzanera, Procol Harum’s Gary Brooker, Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid and Bruce’s co-writer Pete Brown also were on hand at today’s funeral. A recording of a song Eric Clapton wrote for Jack was played over the PA and Brown was among the speakers. In addition to “Strawberry Fields Forever,” guests sang “Morning Has Broken” and Jack’s own “Theme For An Imaginary Western.”

Jack Bruce was 71 years old and died due to liver disease.
