Cover Alert | Ryan Adams Covers Bryan Adams Run To You

Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams has dealt with having a very similar name to ’80s pop-rocker Bryan Adams in various ways over the years. There was the time he freaked out on a concertgoer that requested “Summer Of ’69,” but then came around and eventually performed the hit single. Last night Ryan ended the first show back in the states by debuting a cover of one of Bryan’s other ’80s smashes -“Run To You” -at Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, CA.

Over the summer Ryan was asked about the impact Bryan had on his music in an interview with The Globe & Mail and responded, “Bryan Adams was a totally huge part of everything that I am musically. The beginnings of MTV had everything to do with me as a kid. I was transformed by that. I challenge anyone to put on ‘Run To You’ and let that wash over you in a pair of headphones, in your normal listening zone. That stuff is fire-hot.” You might also notice in the image above, the cover art for Ryan’s recently-released self-titled album is very similar to the cover art for Bryan’s 1984 LP Reckless.
