Cover Alert | Gov’t Mule Covers Little Feat & Grateful Dead

Last Friday night Gov’t Mule continued a long tradition of guest-filled shows in New Orleans by welcoming over 30 other musicians to the stage during a marathon performance at the Saenger Theatre. The guests ranged from New Orleans natives like George Porter Jr. and Trombone Shorty to rock legends Bill Kreutzmann, Chuck Leavell, Fred Tackett and Paul Barrere to blues men Johnny Winter and Sonny Landreth to young upstarts like Alecia Chakour and The Shady Horns.

The first one features Mule’s cover of “Sugaree” by the Grateful Dead with special guests Bill Kreutzmann, George Porter Jr., Alecia Chakour & The Shady Horns and without Matt Abts & Jorgen Carlsson:

And here’s Steve Goodman’s “City Of New Orleans” > “Spanish Moon” by Little Feat featuring Gov’t Mule and guests Bill Kreutzmann, George Porter Jr., Alecia Chakour, Paul Barrere, Fred Tackett, G-Love & The Shady Horns (Kreutzmann, Chakour and G-Love don’t perform on “Spanish Moon”):
