Cover Alert | Dopapod & Umphreys McGee Cover Prince 1999

By Scott Bernstein Nov 8, 2014 10:05 am PST

Last night, Umphrey’s McGee played a show at The Orpheum in Madison, Wisconsin that was their 1,999th performance ever. Opening act Dopapod honored the occasion by covering Prince’s “1999” with the help of a few of the headliners.

Umphrey’s McGee keyboardist Joel Cummins, percussionist Andy Farag, drummer Kris Myers and bassist Ryan Stasik all helped out Dopapod on the Prince cover. Myers added vocals to the mix and Stasik played triangle.

Shinepigeon has shared fan-shot video of the “1999” from last night. Watch it before The Purple One sends a take-down notice:

Tonight, Dopapod plays 7th St. Entry in Minneapolis, while Umphrey’s returns to The Orpheum for show #2,000.
