Cover Alert | David Rawlings Machine Tackles Grateful Dead

Earlier this week we shared David Rawlings Machine’s version of Led Zeppelin’s “Going To California” featuring John Paul Jones on mandolin. Rawlings’ tour with John Paul Jones has continued and on Wednesday night at Athens’ Georgia Theatre the band premiered a Grateful Dead cover.

The band features Rawlings and longtime collaborator Gillian Welch with Jones, Paul Kowert and Willie Watson. Our friends at Jamgrass.net captured video of most of the group’s cover of “Deal”:
