Courtney Barnett used some of the downtime afforded to her “while tour life has been quiet” to assemble media from her live performances over the years. The result of Barnett and her team’s efforts is the launch of CourtneyBarnett.Live, a live music archive website featuring videos, photos, audio, posters, setlists and more.
The site includes a full gig history and incorporates previously unshared backstage photos and live recordings. Courtney was inspired by her mom’s “meticulous and inquisitive archival skills” and noted it was her mother who has been keeping a list of Barnett’s live shows since 2007.
CourtneyBarnett.Live “will be constantly evolving as more old and new stuff gets added,” Barnett wrote in an announcement. “people can even send in any photos, videos & memories they’ve got from shows in the past (hit the ‘contribute’ button). i look forward to more shows with you one day soon but for now happy scrolling x,”
One of the many highlights featured on the site is video of Courtney’s lone full-band concert of 2020. The show was an Australian bushfire fundraiser held in January 2020 at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel. “it was a super hot day and the sky was full of bushfire smoke,” Barnett recalled. “Natalie van den Dungen filmed and edited the whole show, Lara Soulio engineered and mixed the audio, and it’s now up on the live archive site.”
