Conor Oberst & The Felice Brothers Honor Tom Petty At Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

Singer-songwriter Conor Oberst performed at the first day of this year’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass music festival at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Friday’s set saw Oberst honor Tom Petty by covering one of his songs with the help of members of The Felice Brothers.

Oberst was the final set performed at the Rooster Stage on Friday, following sets by First Aid Kit, The Felice Brothers and others. Members of the former group joined Oberst for renditions of Bright Eyes’ songs “Lua” and “Southern State.” The encore saw members of The Felice Brothers come back out to support Oberst and his band on a cover of “Walls (Circus),” which Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers recorded for the 1996 Songs and Music from “She’s the One” soundtrack album.
