Yesterday, Willie Nelson hosted the 44th annual 4th Of July Picnic near Austin at the Circuit Of The Americas in Elroy, Texas. After introducing the fireworks display earlier in the night, U.S. Congressman Beto O’Rourke was among the guests performing alongside Nelson during the conclusion of the outlaw country legend’s headlining set.

Prior to his political career, O’Rourke, who is running against current Texas incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, was a member of the band Foss alongside At The Drive-In/The Mars Volta’s Cedric Bixler-Zavala. O’Rourke played acoustic guitar with Willie Nelson & Family, as the event’s fellow performers including Margo Price and members of Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real, Asleep At The Wheel and The Head And The Heart came on to help out on “Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die,” “It’s All Going To Pot,” “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” and “I’ll Fly Away.”
