Chris Stamey is set to release a new solo LP Euphoria on June 2 via Yep Roc Records and has shared the album track, “Universe-sized Arms.” The new LP was recorded at Stamey’s Modern Recording studio and at Mitch Easter’s Fidelitorium and follows up his 2013 record, Lovesick Blues. Along with Easter, other contributors to the album included Tony Stiglitz, F.J. Ventre, Wes Lachot, Matt McMichaels, Eric Marshall of Let’s Active,  Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub, Django Haskins of the Old Ceremony and Pat Sansone of Wilco.

The album’s opening song, “Universe-sized Arms” —premiered by PopMatters –was written by Ryan Adams who sent the song to The dB’s founding guitarist. “Ryan Adams sent this to me without footnotes, so I can’t speak to his lyrical intent,” Stamey told PopMatters. “To me, it’s about meeting a lover for the first time, that sense of being completed and enveloped by another person, with everything happening in double time. I like that it reminds me both of ‘Interstellar Overdrive’ by Syd’s Pink Floyd and a lost Psychedelic Furs track, especially with Mitch Easter’s ringing guitar colors. I added the strings and horns to make it a bit more like ‘Live and Let Die.’”

You can also hear the album cut, “Invisible” which was previously made available.
