During a recent stop in Austin as part of run of Chris Robinson Brotherhood shows in Texas, the band debuted a new original song. Austin’s long running Scoot Inn was the site of the first performance of “Shadow Cosmos.”
Between shows at Gas Monkey Dallas on Friday and last night’s gig in Houston at Warehouse Live, CRB rolled into Austin for their Scoot Inn performance Saturday evening. The first set featured originals such as newly-penned “Leave My Guitar Alone,” “Forever As The Moon,” “Precious, Precious” and “California Hymn” alongside favorites like “Meanwhile in the Gods…,” the set closing “Beggar’s Moon” and a version of The Black Crowes’ “Little Lizzie Mae.”
A cover of “Let It Bleed” by The Rolling Stones opened the second set and after staples “Jump The Turnstiles” and “Wheel Don’t Roll,” frontman Chris Robinson led the group through their first live performance of the CRB original “Shadow Cosmos.” Bob Dylan’s “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” followed and the rest of the set included Robinson leading his Crowes’ standard Otis Redding cover “Hard To Handle” as well as a “Shore Power” closer.
