Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band Announce New Album & Share 16-Minute Single

Chris Forsyth & the Solar Motel Band will issue a new studio album entitled Dreaming In The Non-Dream on August 18 through No Quarter Records. The group has shared the 16-minute title track as the the lead single off the forthcoming LP.

Philadelphia-based guitarist Chris Forsyth took the title to the new four-song album from a William Burroughs quote. Backed by bassist Peter Kerlin, drummer Ray Kubian and keyboardist Shawn E. Hansen, the new album marks Forsyth’s first album since 2013’s Solar Motel to lack a second guitarist. The follow-up to 2016’s double LP The Rarity of Experience was tracked live in the studio over four days last fall and features sparse use of overdubs.

“It was made very, very quickly and tracked entirely live with all the musicians in the room and just a few overdubs,” said Forsyth in a statement. “I think reflecting on what was in the air while working on this – Brexit and then Trump’s election – I did not really have the patience or the desire to do something painstaking. I wanted to take that intensity that we were all feeling and put it on the record.”
