Singer-songwriter Chan Marshall, a.k.a. Cat Power, will release a new studio album Wanderer via Domino Records on October 5. Power will support her first record since 2012’s Sun with a World Tour this fall.
Marshall produced the 11-track Wanderer, which features contributions from longtime friends and a guest appearance from recent tour-mate and friend Lana Del Rey. The album was written and recorded over the past few years in Miami and Los Angeles.
Wanderer is said to document “my journey so far,” as per Marshall in a press release. “The course my life has taken in this journey – going from town to town, with my guitar, telling my tale; with reverence to the people who did this generations before me. Folk singers, blues singers, and everything in between. They were all wanderers, and I am lucky to be among them.”

Cat Power follows an appearance at Chicago’s Riot Fest and a run supporting The National with an extensive headlining tour. Marshall kicks off the headlining portion of the tour at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston on October 5. Next up are stops in South Burlington, Detroit, Toronto, Cleveland, Louisville and Atlanta ahead of a run through Europe.
Marshall returns to the states to begin a second North American leg of the tour at The Showbox in Seattle on November 17. From there, Cat Power visits Portland (Oregon), Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Phoenix, Austin, Houston and Dallas. She also has a performance slated for Pittsburgh on December 19. Tickets go on sale for all headlining shows this Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m. local except for the South Burlington concert, which go up for grabs at 12 p.m. ET.
