Carin León & Leon Bridges Perform Collaborative Song ‘It Was Always You (Siempre Fuiste Tú)’ On ‘Kimmel’

After sharing the stage together at last weekend’s Stagecoach festival in Indio, California, Carín León and Leon Bridges reprised their collaboration on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Like at Stagecoach, León and Leon once again performed their recently released single, “It Was Always You (Siempre Fuiste Tú).”

León’s appearance at Stagecoach marked the first time a Spanish-language act performed at both Stagecoach and Coachella. The Mexican musician was recognized for the achievement by receiving the key to the city of Coachella.

“It Was Always You (Siempre Fuiste Tú)” was released by the pair of singer-songwriters in March. The track was co-produced by Edgar Barrera and CASTA.

“This song with my friend Leon is very important to me,” León stated. “It’s another huge moment for American roots music and música Mexicana, uniting two languages that, despite having so much in common, need music to express their solidarity. Creating this song makes me feel refreshed as a creative and a musician and will feel refreshing to Leon’s fans and my fans alike. It features production from Edgar Barrera and CASTA, the talented Colombian that needs no introduction. Everything happens for a reason, and after holding this song for eight months, we are so happy with how this crossover worked out. ”

“‘It Was Always You’ is a breezy heartbreak tune about being in a toxic relationship but finding peace with moving on,” Texas-native Bridges stated. “I first found out about Carin from some friends in Texas and knew I wanted to collaborate. I reached out directly, and he was game right away. I had the pleasure of going to Carin’s Hometown of Hermosillo, Mexico to shoot the video and his family and community were so loving and hospitable. Mexican music and culture is laced all throughout Fort Worth, Texas, so doing this collab felt a bit like home to me.”

Carin León recently announced his Boca Chueca Tour 2024 covering North America and Europe this fall. Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 3. Additionally, León will open for The Rolling Stones at their show on May 7 in Glendale, Arizona.
