Butch Trucks Sits In With ZZ Top On Tush In France

Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks likes to spend his summers in France, which doesn’t typically lead to many musical opportunities. However, the drummer did find himself on stage with ZZ Top in Nimes on Saturday night, where he sat in on “Tush” with the legendary rockers.

“Went to see some old friends ZZ Top play last night. They were playing at an ancient Roman Arena in Nimes, about 30 minutes from our place. They started the same year we did, 1969, and are still going strong. Lots of fun, even if I only had a snare, a tom and one cymbal. Most definitely one of the most original sit ins ever,” Butch shared on the Roots Rock Revival Facebook Page about the experience.

ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons and bassist Dusty Hill first sat in with the Allman Brothers Band on January 26, 1997 in New Orleans. Gibbons also guested with the group at the Beacon Theatre on March 24, 2009 and again on July 27, 2011.
