Bust Out Alert: Neil Young Dusts Off ‘L.A.’ In Los Angeles

We’ve approached the end of Neil Young and Promise of The Real Rebel Content Tour as the second leg of the run concludes on Saturday night at the Greek in Berkeley. The setlists from the tour have been ridiculous with Young and his band dusting off many songs he hasn’t played in decades, a trend that continued last night at The Forum in Los Angeles.
https://instagram.com/p/83pNFfsdne/On March 25, 1973 Neil Young visited The Forum with his Stray Gators backing band. One of the songs Young and the Stray Gators performed that night was the Time Fades Away track “L.A.” The legendary guitarist had one more “L.A.” in store a few nights later with the Stray Gators, but then didn’t perform the song again until Wednesday night at The Forum. All told, more than 42 years passed between performances of “L.A.” As we say, now THAT’S a bust out.

“L.A.” joins a list of Neil Young bust outs in 2015 that also includes “Time Fades Away,” “Alabama,” “Vampire Blues” and “Here We Are In Years.” Last night’s show also featured the tour debut of “Mansion On The Hill,” the second “Vampire Blues” since 1974 and the run’s fourth “My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue).” Neil Young and Promise Of The Real follow Saturday’s tour closer with a pair of headlining appearances at the annual Bridge School Benefit Concerts at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California October 24 and 25.
