Bruce Springsteen’s Big Night In NOLA With Fogerty & Dr. John

Springsteen and his band played a lengthy 24-song performance at the Fairgrounds for the final set of the day that included an eight-song encore. Bruce’s first guest of the night was Rickie Lee Jones, who lent a hand on a pair of Seeger Sessions tunes such as the tour debut of Henry Thomas’s “John Henry.” The main set also featured the tour debut of “How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times And Live?” When the New Jersey native returned for the encore, The Boss and the E Street Band were joined by John Fogerty for performances of Creedence Clearwater Revival classics “Green River” and “Proud Mary.” The encore also included a tip of the hat to the Crescent City in the form of “When The Saints Go Marching In.”
After the action at the Fairgrounds wrapped up, The Boss headed over to The Saenger for the Dr. John Tribute. Springsteen joined Dr. John himself for perhaps the New Orleans legend’s most famous tune -“Right Place, Wrong Time.” Just two years back Dr. John had sat in with Bruce and the E Street Band at the Fairgrounds for the group’s last Jazz Fest performance. Other highlights from the Dr. John tribute included Widespread Panic accompanied by the Dirty Dozen horns for “How Come My Dog Don’t Bark When You Come Around,” Warren Haynes playing slide on “You Lie,” Tab Benoit’s “Stagger Lee” and John Fogerty leading a take on “New Orleans.”
