Bruce Springsteen didn’t let downpours dampen spirits at his concert on Wednesday with the E Street Band in Sunderland, England. The Boss nodded to the brutal weather by breaking out “Waitin’ On A Sunny Day” to kick off his 28-song, three-hour show at the Stadium of Light.
“Waitin’ On A Sunny Day” was last performed by Springsteen and the E Street Band way back on February 4, 2017 in Melbourne, Australia. After contending with a 40-minute delay the crowd loudly sung along with the tune off The Boss’ 2002 album, The Rising, as heavy rains fell.

Bruce Springsten stuck to The Rising in following the opener with “Lonesome Day.” The 74-year-old musician and his 17-piece band delivered classics “Prove It All Night” and “No Surrender” next before turning to 2020’s Letter To You for “Ghosts” and its title track. Some of the lesser-played material this tour to make the setlist last night came soon after and included “Light Of Day,” “Atlantic City,” “Darlington County,” “The River” and “Racing In The Street.”
The Boss closed out the main set in Sunderland by pairing favorites “Badlands” and “Thunder Road.” The encore followed a similar pather as other tour stops as Springsteen and company rolled through “Born To Run,” “Glory Days,” “Dancing In The Dark” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” along with a cover of “Twist and Shout.” As usual, Springsteen went it alone to close the show with a solo acoustic “I’ll See You In My Dreams.”
