Bruce Springsteen and Sheryl Crow each performed a set at Monday’s Stand Up For Heroes benefit at the Theater At Madison Square Garden in New York City. The annual event raises funds for the Bob Woodruff Foundation, an organization which “navigates a maze of more than 46,000 nonprofits to find, fund and shape innovative programs in communities where our vets, their families and caregivers live and work.” Crow’s set included her first ever collaboration with Springsteen.

Bruce has taken 2019 off from live performances outside of a few surprise appearances. Springsteen’s solo set on Monday featured a total of five songs. The Boss opened with “Bobby Jean” off 1984’s Born In The U.S.A.. He then plucked “I’ll Work For Your Love” off 2007’s Magic and went back to Born In The U.S.A. for “I’m On Fire” and “Dancing In The Dark.” The New Jersey native closed out his set with “Land Of Hope & Dreams” from his 2012 studio album, Wrecking Ball.

Crow kicked off her set with “Everyday Is A Winding Road.” Springsteen then emerged for a duet on “Redemption Day.” Sheryl wrote the song for inclusion on her self-titled 1996 studio album. Johnny Cash went on to record “Redemption Day” for a take that was released posthumously on 2010’s American VI: Ain’t No Grave. For the finale, Sheryl Crow treated fans to “I Shall Believe.”

Frédéric Yonnet and Chloe Flower were the other musicians on the bill, while John Stewart, John Oliver, Hassan Minhaj and Ronny Chieng performed comedy sets. Watch fan-shot video of Bruce’s set and duet with Crow captured by Sammy Steinlight below:
