Bruce Springsteen Offers Alan Vega Tribute & Other Tour Debuts In Denmark

Wednesday night Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band continued the European leg of their The River Tour at CASA Arena in Horsens, Denmark. Those in attendance saw The Boss honor late Suicide founder Alan Vega as well as offer several other tour debuts throughout the concert.

The show began with Springsteen paying tribute to Vega, the co-founder of influential electro-punk band Suicide who passed away last week, with the tour’s first cover of Suicide’s “Dream Baby Dream.” Springsteen also broke out the rarely played Chuck Berry cover “You Never Can Tell” for the first time since 2013 and Elvis Presley’s “Follow That Dream” which was performed for just the fifth time since 1993. Bruce and the band also dusted off the Born In The U.S.A. outtake “Frankie” for the first time this tour.

A total of 10 songs from The River made it into Wednesday’s setlist, such as “Hungry Heart,” “Two Hearts,” “Out In The Street,” “Sherry Darling” “You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch)” and the title track. Springsteen also played such favorites as “I’m On Fire,” “Because The Night,” “Born To Run,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and the show closing solo acoustic rendition of “Thunder Road.”
