By Scott Bernstein Apr 15, 2016 • 7:08 am PDT

On Thursday night, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band continued The River Tour at The Palace Of Auburn Hills near Detroit where they were joined by a hometown hero for the final two songs of the evening. Bob Seger emerged towards the end of the show to add tambourine and backing vocals to “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and “Shout.”
The show started as all concerts on the tour have thus far with The River outtake “Meet Me In The City” followed by a full performance of The Boss’s 1980 double album The River. “Badlands” kicked off the non-River portion of the show which also included takes on such classics as “The Promised Land,” “Backstreets,” “Because The Night” and “Thunder Road.”
Springsteen and his band returned for a six-song encore that featured Seger on the last two tunes. Guitarist Steven Van Zandt goaded Seger into coming on stage during “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and threw him a tambourine. As Billboard notes, Bob Seger sat-in with the E Street Band during the original The River Tour when he assisted on “Thunder Road” on October 3, 1980 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
