Brandi Carlile and Rufus Wainwright teamed up remotely with eTown host Nick Forster to collaborate on a cover of Sandy Denny’s “Who Knows Where The Time Goes.” The resulting performance, which also featured Wainwright’s band, is the first installment of the public radio program’s eTown Quarantine Sessions video series.

Sandy Denny originally recorded “Who Knows Where The Time Goes” in 1967. One year later, Judy Collins would cover the song as the title track for her 1968 LP. Denny joined Fairport Convention in 1967 and the band released “Who Knows Where The Time Goes” on their 1969 album, Unhalfbricking.

Rufus Wainwright and his band featuring drummer Kyle Crane, guitarist Brian Green and pianist Jacob Mann laid down their parts of the collaboration at a studio in Los Angeles. Brandi Carlile recorded vocals in Seattle and Nick Forster added mandolin and Weissborn at eTown Hall in Boulder.
