Watch Brandi Carlile Load Stage For Joyous ‘I’m Coming Out’ Finale At Out & About Festival

Brandi Carlile headlined both nights of the inaugural Out & About Festival at the Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia this past weekend. Carlile’s performance on Sunday wrapped with an all-star collaboration on Diana Ross’ 1980 hit “I’m Coming Out” to close the event featuring LGBTQ+ artists and allies performing during Pride Month.

While Brandi Carlile’s set on Sunday was similar to Saturday's, Sunday saw different guests and a handful of different songs. Brandi stuck to the opening mashup of her “Stay Gentle” — off 2021’s In These Silent Days — with “Over The Rainbow.” Brandi also delivered In These Silent Day’s “You and Me on the Rock” once again but this time around welcomed Sunday festival performers Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius. The setlist variations continued originals “Hiding My Heart” and “I Belong To You” as well as a partial cover of Indigo Girls’ “Ghost” followed by Tracy Chapman’s “The Promise.”

Following a coupling of “My Song” and the U2 classic “Where The Streets Have No Name,” Carlile welcomed Out & About performer Brandy Clark for a collab on the latter’s “The Best One” and “Dear Insecurity.” Lucius would also return to help Brandi on “Sinners, Saints and Fools” and a cover of i-Ten’s “Alone” before Carlile closed out her set with “The Joke” off 2018’s By The Way, I Forgive You.

To kick off the encore, Carlile introduced her niece and nephew’s band and took in their performance of “Dream Again.” As she did for Saturday’s encore, Brandi offered covers of Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Live and Let Die” and Queen’s “We Are The Champions,” which both featured Lucius. After “Hold Out Your Hand,” Lucius, Brandy Clark, Oh He Dead, Nikki Shorts and Solomon Dorsey joined Brandi for a joyous rendition of the Nile Rodgers/Bernard Edwards-penned 1980 Diana Ross hit, “I’m Coming Out” to close out the inaugural Out & About Festival.
