Boston Red Sox & San Francisco Giants Announce Grateful Dead Tribute Nights

A pair of Major League Baseball teams have announced Grateful Dead Tribute Nights at games being played during the upcoming season. The Boston Red Sox and San Francisco Giants will each honor the legendary rock band with specially themed games.

Boston’s Fenway Park will host a Grateful Dead Night when the Red Sox take on American League rivals the Baltimore Orioles on April 11. Fans attending the game will receive a commemorative dancing bears figurine and there will be a pre-game concert as well. Part of the proceeds from Grateful Dead Night will be donated to the Dead’s Rex Foundation charity. Follow this link for more information.

San Francisco’s AT&T Park will hold another Grateful Dead Tribute Night on August 3 when they host an interleague competition with fellow Bay Area ballclub the Oakland A’s. Coinciding with a celebration of the 50th anniversary of 1967’s Summer of Love, those who attend the game will receive a limited Giants-themed dancing bear bobblehead. Surviving Grateful Dead members and representatives from Jerry Garcia’s family will be in attendance. Portions of the sales of special event tickets will be donated “to various non-profits near and dear to the band’s heart.” Follow this link for more information.
