Bob Weir Returns For RatDog Show In San Diego

The ensemble’s well-jammed, 55-minute first set only featured five songs. Bobby took back lead vocal duties from drummer Jay Lane, who handled the job in Vegas. Weir strapped on an acoustic for a pair of “Cowboy Tunes” to start the second set -“Me & My Uncle” and “Mexicali Blues.” The closing stanza also featured the Dead’s “Truckin” before a string of “Tomorrow Never Knows” (The Beatles), the RatDog original “Two Djinn” -which led into the nightly “Stuff” jam -and covers of Reverend Gary Davis’s “Death Don’t Have No Mercy” and “Samson & Delilah.” RatDog finished off the evening with a cover of “Johnny B. Goode.”
There’s been no further word on what was ailing Bobby, but it appears he’s back and ready to finish out the current tour. Next up for Weir & RatDog is a performance at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix tonight.
