Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California hosted an after party for a screening of the Grateful Dead documentary Long Strange Trip on Sunday night. The concert featured a performance from Steve Kimock & Friends and the guitarist was joined by his old boss Bob Weir for a pair of songs to start the night.
Kimock’s band for the evening featured vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Leslie Mendelson, guitarist Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, multi-instrumentalist Pete Sears, drummer John Kimock and bassist Bobby Vega. Bob Weir emerged with the group at the start of the first of two sets for takes on “Bird Song” and “Blue Bayou.”
Bobby wasn’t the only guest as guitarist Eric Krasno also sat-in. Kraz initially came out for “Bertha” and “Scarlet Begonias” at the end of the first set and wound up sticking around for the second set as well. Steve Kimock & Friends’ second set focused solely on gems from the Grateful Dead’s live repertoire including “Tennessee Jed,” “Shakedown Street” and “Not Fade Away.”
