The show opened up with Weir’s trademark Grateful Dead classic “Hell In A Bucket” and led into the evening’s lone RatDog original -“Money For Gasoline.” RatDog focused on songs from the Grateful Dead’s live repertoire for the rest of the set up until the closer, “Don’t Let Go,” which was a Jerry Garcia favorite. Last night’s “Don’t Let Go” was only the second time RatDog has performed the tune.
Watch fan-shot footage of “Don’t Let Go” thanks to BudFulginiti:
Bobby has started each second set of the tour on acoustic and last night was no exception as RatDog rolled through “Walkin Blues,” “Bombs Away” and “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.” Weir’s “Bombs Away” had been shelved since March 23, 2007. The closing stanza also included a “Playing In The Band” with “Wang Dang Doodle” in the middle, the band’s usual “Stuff” improvisation and a “Big Railroad Blues” > “Black Peter” > “Sugar Magnolia” sequence. Fittingly, the band encored with “Touch Of Grey.”
