Bob Dylan continued to dust off classic material yesterday on Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour. Dylan delivered the first “The Times They Are A-Changin” in 15 years during the Nashville area stop at FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee.
Following the “Gotta Serve Somebody” opener, Bob Dylan slotted in “The Times They Are A-Changin,” the anthemic title track to his 1964 LP. Bob debuted the song during his second appearance at Carnegie Hall in New York City on October 26, 1963, as per bobdylan.com. The legendary singer-songwriter has performed “The Times They Are A-Changin” 633 times since.

In Franklin, Tennessee on Wednesday, Dylan broke out the timeless tune for the first time since performing it on February 9, 2010 at The White House for Barack and Michelle Obama’s event “In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music From the Civil Rights Movement,” as per SetlistFM stats. Bob’s version near Nashville carried sparse backing from his band and was mostly a gospel-tinged solo piano performance.

Additional favorites during Dylan’s Outlaw set on Wednesday included “All Along the Watchtower” and “Desolation Row.” Bob also served up a trio of covers in George “Wild Child” Butler’s “Axe and the Wind,” “I’ll Make It All Up To You” by Charlie Rich and “Share Your Love With Me” from Bobby “Blue” Bland. Dylan closed out the set with another vintage tune, “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.”
