Bob Dylan & Band Cover ‘Freebird’ At Berkeley Greek

Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan continued a tour featuring support from Mavis Staples on Thursday night in Berkeley at the iconic Greek Theater. In a major surprise, Dylan’s band covered the end of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s rock classic “Freebird” to conclude their performance in Berkeley.

While 2016 North American Bob Dylan shows have seen setlists that haven’t changed much from night-to-night, Bob has been turning his band loose when it comes to arrangements and solos. The instrumental cover focuses on the guitar solo at the end of “Freebird” and is short but sweet. Dylan’s “Freebird” came after “Love Sick” and served as quite an exclamation mark on Thursday’s two-set show. Watch a couple of clips that have surfaced:
