Blackberry Smoke Preps Best Of Compilation In Tribute To Late Drummer Brit Turner

Blackberry Smoke announced a new compilation album, Rattle, Ramble & Roll: The Best of Blackberry Smoke – Volume One, via their 3 Legged Records. The collection arriving on November 14 comes in honor of the band’s late founding drummer Brit Turner.

Brit Turner sadly died in March 2024 after a battle with glioblastoma. However, Brit and Blackberry Smoke’s fight against cancer dates back to 2009 when Turner’s daughter was diagnosed with Stage-4 neuroblastoma. Against all odds, she survived. To aid in defeating childhood cancer, the band created the Brit Turner Family Fund, a non-profit supporting a number of national foundations committed to curing children’s cancer — raising $2 million to date.

BBS’ latest tribute to Brit is Rattle, Ramble & Roll, which also comes just ahead of Blackberry Smoke’s 25th anniversary year in 2026. The 22-track record boasts beloved BBS favorites such as “Waiting For The Thunder,” “Good One Comin’ On,” “Sleeping Dogs,” “The Whippoorwill” and “One Horse Town.” Additionally, the compilation features never-before-heard tracks “We Got Company” and “Southern Child (Live).”

Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr further detailed the collection:

“Rattle, Ramble and Roll: The Best of Blackberry Smoke – Volume 1 is a collection of material that has been the heartbeat of our journey. We put together a representation of songs that captures a small part of what Blackberry Smoke is. Next year marks our 25th anniversary as a band, and it just feels right to celebrate by looking back at where we’ve been. We want to honor our brother Brit and the music and memories we made with him along with the legacy he left. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for riding along with us all these years. We couldn’t have done a single mile without you. Here’s to the past, the present, and the road ahead.”
