Blackberry Smoke capped their concert last night at The State Theatre in Ithaca, New York, by bringing out former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted. The band summoned Newsted at the onset of the encore for a collaborative tear through Black Sabbath's “Children Of The Grave.”
Newsted took his place on the stage next to frontman/guitarist Charlie Starr, while doubling up on bass with Blackberry Smoke’s Richard Turner. Blackberry Smoke first covered “Children Of The Grave” earlier this year. The song is one of several Black Sabbath originals performed by Blackberry Smoke over their career.
