Charlie Starr’s Son Christian Gray Joins Blackberry Smoke For Allman Brothers Band Cover At The Ryman

Blackberry Smoke took over The Ryman Auditorium on Friday and Saturday nights for a two-show run at the historic Nashville venue. The band was joined by frontman Charlie Starr’s son, singer-songwriter Christian Gray on both nights, including on a cover of “Jessica” by The Allman Brothers Band.
The Black Bettys vocal duo also guested with Blackberry Smoke at The Ryman. On Friday, the encore began with a cover of Molly Hatchet’s “Flirtin’ With Disaster,” which saw Gray performing alongside his father and his bandmates.

Gray was back on The Ryman stage for Saturday’s encore as well. The Southern rockers took on one of the best-known songs by one of the best-known Southern rock bands, giving their take on “Jessica,” which was written by late co-founding Allman Brothers Band member Dickey Betts.
