The Black Crowes wasted little time getting to work after releasing their critically-acclaimed, Grammy-nominated 2024 album, Happiness Bastards. The resulting 11-song record, A Pound Of Feathers, is due out via Silver Arrow Records on March 13 and has been previewed with double lead singles “Profane Prophecy” and “Pharmacy Chronicles.”
“We made this record in eight to 10 days,” noted frontman Chris Robinson of the different approach the band took towards A Pound Of Feathers.
Chris had high praise for brother and Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson's contributions to the forthcoming LP. “Bringing the high and inspiration from Happiness Bastards into this album, it was a natural progression. We experimented more, we wrote on instinct and how we were feeling in the moment. Rich brought a spontaneity to the record that I can’t describe, but it’s the best shit he’s ever done,” Chris Robinson proclaimed.
“This album feels transformative to us,” added Rich Robinson. “Going back to our roots, we felt that spark in the studio and how we work together. Lighting a fire that hits harder, more jagged, but is still true to our musical essence.”
A Pound Of Feathers does share a few similarities with Happiness Bastards, as both albums were recorded in Nashville with producer Jay Joyce. Out now are the record’s barnburning opening track, “Profane Prophecy,” and soul-laden “Pharmacy Chronicles.”
