Billy Strings To Transport Baltimore To ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ Era For Halloween Run

Billy Strings revealed the theme for his upcoming Halloween concerts at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena on October 31 and November 1. Strings, his band and special guests will present a “O Billy, Where Art Thou?” theatrical stage adaptation on the 31st and “The Men & Women Of Constant Sorrow Perform The Songs Of Highway Prayers & More” on the 1st.

This year’s theme plays off O Brother, Where Art Thou?, a 2000 comedic adventure film set in the Depression-era South, following three escaped convicts on a quest for hidden treasure, blending folklore, humor and a rich bluegrass soundtrack. Producer and musician T Bone Burnett worked with filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen to create the soundtrack for the movie, which is a major component of the film. “I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow,” “O Death,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “You Are My Sunshine,” “Angel Band” and “In The Highways” are among the songs featured in the film and included on its soundtrack.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? co-stars and musicians Tim Blake Nelson and Chris Thomas King lead the impressive roster of special guests set to accompany Billy Strings and bandmates mandolinist Jarrod Walker, bassist Royal Masat, banjoist Billy Failing and fiddler Alex Hargreaves at each show. Also aboard are dobroist Jerry Douglas, mandolinist Sierra Hull, drummer Duane Trucks, cellist Nat Smith, multi-instrumentalist Rachael Davis and guitarist Cris Jacobs and Lindsay Lou.

Strings’ “O Billy, Where Art Thou?” continues a tradition of themed Halloween concerts. 2023 had a wrestling theme of “Van Andel Scramble” while previous runs were devoted to Lord Of The Rings (2022), Wizard Of Oz (2021), A Clockwork Orange (2019) and “Bird Theme” (2018).
