As reported, Billy Strings missed this past weekend’s Renewal festival after he flew home to be on hand for the birth of his first child. Strings and festival organizers Bonfire Entertainment are processing refunds for all GA and VIP tickets in recognition “this year was not what [attendees] expected.” The guitarist also confirmed fall tour livestreams, which are free for nugs.net subscribers.
Billy Strings (William Apostol) departed the fourth annual Renewal festival in Buena Vista, Colorado on Friday. Apostol received a call from his wife, Ally, who told him that her water had broken. Strings hopped aboard Ringo Starr‘s jet and was on hand when Ally gave birth to a baby boy.
Renewal moved forward with Billy Strings’ bandmates and other musicians on the bill performing the headline sets on Friday and Saturday. “Regarding renewal. I WILL find a way to make it up to you.. just give me a sec to be with my family. I’ll figure out a way to make it up to you I promise!” wrote Strings as part of a note published Sunday on social media and two days later announced refunds would be provided.

“We want to extend our deepest gratitude for being a part of an extraordinary Renewal,” began the message from Strings and Bonfire Entertainment addressed to the Renewal Family. “Your overwhelming show of support, kindness, and positivity truly made this year an unforgettable experience.
“We are deeply moved by the spirit of our community and the legendary performances brought to you by some of our closest friends. Moments like these remind us of the power of friendship and community. We recognize that this year was not what you expected, and we truly appreciate you sticking with us. On Friday, October 4th, we will begin processing refunds for all GA and VIP tickets. Please allow 5-10 business days for the funds to appear in your account,” the announcement continued.
The statement went on to note ticketing provider Tixr waived their service fees. The only non-refundable part of ticket purchases will be credit card processing fees. “We understand that changes can be disappointing, and appreciate your understanding as we strive to accommodate everyone as best as we can,” Billy Strings and Bonfire added.

Billy Strings also shared a personal note as an Instagram story. “I’m happy to get refunds out to renewal folks,” Apostol wrote. “I know that shits expensive as hell and this might be the only concert all year for some folks. Could have been some folks’ first time trying to come see me and I wasn’t there. There’s no way I was gonna just keep the bread .. I’ll take this one onf the chin because business is business .. and yall didn’t get what you paid for. Plenty more concerts to come. Much love.”
A classy move was met with class by many Billy Strings fans. A Reddit thread about the Renewal decision saw several fans state they will donate their refunds to Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
Proud new papa Billy Strings will kick off his fall tour with a pair of home state shows at Pine Knob in Clarkston, Michigan this Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5. The eight-city excursion ends in Austin on December 13 after stops in Indianapolis, Huntsville (Alabama), Baltimore, Memphis, Tulsa and Fort Worth (Texas).
Billy Strings has partnered with nugs.net to stream all 14 fall dates live. The livestreams and on-demand replays are free for nugs.net subscribers.
