Billy Strings resumed his Streaming Strings tour with the second of two shows at a mostly empty The Station Inn in Nashville on Sunday night. Strings and his band were joined by flatpicking guitarist Bryan Sutton for the bulk of their second set.
The quartet consisting of Strings, bassist Royal Masat, banjoist Billy Failing and mandolin player Jarrod Walker focused on bluegrass classics for the second night in a row, as they honored the legacy of the venue. After opening with “Dark Hollow,” the band went on to play songs by such bluegrass icons as Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, David Grisman, Hot Rize and The Dillards last night.

Sutton emerged four songs into the closing stanza to add to a pair of Bill Monroe covers: “I’m Coming Back But I Don’t Know When” and “The Gold Rush.” Bryan Sutton remained on stage with the four-piece for the remainder of the evening.
At setbreak, it was confirmed Strings and his band will appear on Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The Streaming Strings tour continues on Wednesday at City Winery’s Nashville outpost.
