UNTZ is DEAD Brings Jamtronica-Fueled Dead Tunes To The Northeast This November

UNTZ is DEAD, the four-piece band that reimagines the music of the Grateful Dead through a jamtronica lens, heads to the Northeast for its first run in the region in November. The lineup features Allen Aucoin, the former drummer of the Disco Biscuits.

Aucoin is joined by Dylan Teifer on keyboards, Elie Herzog on guitar and Fleeb Thomas on bass. Aucoin also performs in Hive Mind and solo as DrFameus.

Teifer plays in Steely Dead, Herzog in JELLI and Spiral Light, and Fleeb in Octopus Nebula. Rather than working as a traditional tribute act, the band blends Dead tunes with electronic grooves, dance-driven rhythms and improvisation.

The project grew out of @The_Untz, an independent Instagram meme page known for jam band humor, memes and satire. What started as a jam band meme page evolved into a live musical project that pairs a love of the Grateful Dead with the improvisational sounds of jamtronica.

UNTZ is DEAD kicks off its first Northeast run on Thursday, November 12 at The Meadows in Brooklyn, New York, with an opening set by Blahsum.

The band then holds a two-night stand at Nietzsche’s in Buffalo, New York. LSTN opens on Friday, November 13. On Saturday, November 14, the band plays a completely different setlist from the night before, and DrFameus closes the show with a set of his own.

The run wraps on Sunday, November 15 at Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where Dr. President opens and makes his debut under the project name.

Catch UNTZ is DEAD live in concert on their first Northeastern Tour. Tickets are available for all four shows.

The band has played two shows at Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver, Colorado, on March 8 and July 16. Artist Zach Katz created the original posters for both nights, and his artwork is a core part of the project’s visual identity.
