Daniel Donato To Go Pier-To-Pier With Billy & The Kids In August

UPDATE (July 21, 9:45 a.m. ET): Daniel Donato is officially in for the two Billy & The Kids concerts next month. “We heard Daniel Donato was going pier to pier looking for us, so we invited him to jump on board as we set sail from Pier 6 (Baltimore) to Pier 17 (NYC),” Kreutzmann wrote on social media. Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann is bringing Billy & The Kids to Baltimore and New York City for two “Dead On The Water” concerts in August. Cosmic Country guitarist Daniel Donato shared a video on social media revealing that he will be playing in the band at Baltimore’s Pier Six Pavilion on August 16 and The Rooftop at Pier 17 in NYC on August 18.

Both “Pier To Pier” shows will be held at venues with “Pier” in the name. “I’m just looking for my piers,” Donato proclaims in many ways during the quirky video. “How the sun’s positioned, I just think the next optimal pier might be Baltimore and New York,” the Nashville-based singer-songwriter/guitarist added. Kreutzmann responded to Donato with the comment, “Maybe try 6 or 17” in reference to the number included in each venue’s moniker.

Daniel Donato will be making his Billy & The Kids debut though Kreutzmann performed with the guitarist and his Cosmic Country outfit in New Orleans on Friday, April 28. Donato will join Kreutzmann on drums, guitarist Tom Hamilton, keyboardist Aron Magner, bassist Reed Mathis, saxophonist James Casey and percussionist Jeff Franca. The original announcement noted the band would be augmented by “a friend of two.”
