Bill Kreutzmann & Friends Conclude Night Of Voodoo Run

Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann presented his second of two “A Night Of Voodoo” performances last night at the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, California. Kreutzmann was joined by bassist Dave Schools, guitarists Steve Kimock and Dan (“Lebo”) Lebowitz and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, along with special guests Jerry Joseph and Vince Herman on Thursday night.

Once again Lebo handled the bulk of vocals leading the way on songs such as “The Harder They Come,” “Sugaree,” “That’s Alright Mama” and “China Cat Sunflower.” Jerry Joseph fronted the band on covers of Toots & The Maytals’ “54-46 That’s My Number” and Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower.” Herman contributed washboard and backing vocals to a “Hey Pocky Way” sequence that featured a “drums” segment. Other unusual covers performed last night include versions of James Waynes’ “Junco Partner” and Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman.” “Stella Blue” was performed as an instrumental with Kimock utilizing pedal steel to simulate the lyrics. The evening came to a close with an “Into The Mystic” encore sung by Lebo.
