Big Thief released a new single, “All Night All Day.” The track will appear on the trio’s forthcoming album, Double Infinity, due out on September 5 via 4AD.
Big Thief announced Double Infinity in June and shared the single, “Incomprehensible.” The trio of Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek and James Krivchenia rode their bikes between Manhattan and Brooklyn while recording Double Infinity at the Power Station with several musician friends: Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery and Mikey Buishas.

Press materials detailed the guest musician roles:
Laraaji created drones with zither and an iPad and sang intuitive vocal melodies. Joshua Crumbly played bass; Mikey Buishas made live tape loops and played keys; Mikel Patrick Avery, Jon Nellen and Caleb Michel played percussion; Adam Brisbin played guitar; and Hannah Cohen, June McDoom and Alena Spanger sang background vocals.
These colorful offerings are present on the new single, “All Night All Day,” which a press release also detailed:
“All Night All Day” is an expression of love and desire without shame. Lenker sings: “Swallow poison swallow sugar / Sometimes they taste the same / But I know your love is neither / And love is just a name / It’s a thing we say for what pulls through / ‘Til we come together.” Here, she asserts that love is neither bitter nor sweet, but something deeper than both—deeper than sensation. It is the “eye behind the essence” which is bigger than naming. Making love can be the expression of this nameless thing.
