Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard ended a two-week run of daily Live From Home livestreams on Sunday with a set of covers. Gibbard played songs by R.E.M., The Cure, Morrissey, Hall & Oates, The Magnetic Fields, Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson, Simon & Garfunkel and Spiritualized over the course of his 50-minute performance.
Ben started Live From Home two weeks prior and each set had a different theme. Gibbard promoted different non-profit organizations every day. Last night’s performance benefitted Aurora Commons, a Seattle-based organization that helps provide safe spaces for the homeless.
Gibbard kicked off his set with R.E.M.’s “Half A World Away” and then performed “Just Like Heaven” by The Cure. Next up was a run of Morrissey’s “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” Hall & Oates’ “Out Of Touch” and “Strange Powers” by The Magnetic Fields. Ben continued the performance with Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon,” Kris Kristofferson’s “Please Don’t Tell Me How The Story Ends” and “The Only Living Boy In New York” by Simon & Garfunkel. Gibbard then revealed that while the daily series is over, he’ll be providing weekly installments of Live At Home starting this Thursday, April 2 at 6 p.m. PT before ending the set with Spiritualized’s “Hold On.” Watch Ben Gibbard’s all-covers set below:
