Becker Recovers For Steely Dan Royal Scam Night In NYC

On Tuesday night Steely Dan co-founder Walter Becker left the stage at NYC’s Beacon Theatre just eight songs into the band’s “Greatest Hits Night.” Becker’s partner, Donald Fagen, told the crowd Walter was suffering the effects of a fever and it was the first time he had ever left in the middle of a concert. The rest of the show went on as planned and Becker returned for all of last night’s “Royal Scam + More” performance at the Beacon.

Becker and Fagen have been leading Steely Dan through one of the most extensive tours in the band’s history as last night marked their 49th gig since the run kicked off in July. While the setlists haven’t offered too much diversity, Thursday night’s “Royal Scam & More” saw a number of tour debuts including “The Caves of Altamira,” “Sign in Stranger,” “The Fez,” “Haitian Divorce,” “Everything You Did” and “The Royal Scam.” Steely Dan followed the performance of all the songs off The Royal Scam with a bevy of hits.
